A helping hand for an emerging business

A helping hand for an emerging business

When embarking on a new business venture, the success of a company’s first year is important, generally setting the record for the future.

It may also be the hardest year, as younger businesses don’t always have the flexibility offered by cash reserves and expected income, so ensuring they are able to react to take on new orders without hitch will bolster success.

Our client, a new business which imports and exports equipment and parts for the oil, gas, mining and construction sectors, was concerned about the cash flow implications of having to offer credit terms to customers.

While being able to do so would improve the company’s ability to take on new work, speeding up success and benefiting the business in the long term, the business couldn’t afford to wait weeks – even months – for payment, so began looking for a working capital solution.

Following an unsuccessful initial search, our client recognised it was time to speak to the experts.

After finding Hilton-Baird Financial Solutions during an internet search and deciding to speak with our in-house team of financial experts, we were able to understand the acute needs of the business and gather information on the best available facility, fit for our client’s purpose.

After reviewing the suitability of the different funders on the market, we were able to carefully select appropriate funders who could also react quickly to assist our client.

Soon after initial contact, Hilton-Baird Financial solutions introduced an export factoring facility with added bad debt protection from two appropriate funders. After careful consideration, our client agreed to the facility they believed was best suited to their specific requirements.

Delighted with the progress made in such a short space of time, our client said: “Hilton-Baird understood the business and the challenges faced with the customers we work with. They were able to introduce two funders who could deliver on requirements successfully, both meeting our desired needs, as they were comfortable with the industry and the territories we work with.”
